The Cote d’Ivoire National Platform of WACSOF wants political actors to conduct a transparent and peaceful election in the country.

As part of its activities based on Democracy, the National Platform of the West African Civil Society Forum in Cote d’Ivoire (WACSOF-CI) organised a workshop in partnership with NED Foundation.

The workshop was on capacity building for Young political supporters and Civil Society Organizations on the current electoral processes in Cote

d’Ivoire.

The two-day workshop held on 29th and 30th December 2014 at Ghoh in Gagnoa was attended by 37 participants, including 12 women from the following Civil Society Organizations and Political parties as well, namely: APROSAM, OJLCI, UJEGA, MIDD, RESOF, CJPVGCI, UJDG, SEMHY-CI, MIDH, ONG MAVU, AJMCI, OFACI, UFF, Femmes Silencieuses, UFG), JFPI, JPDCI, JUDPCI, RJR).

The event did not only create an opportunity to build participants’ capacity on electoral instruments guiding electoral processes in Cote d’Ívoire, it also served as a platform to invite each and every political actors to play their role for the sake of transparent and peaceful elections in Cote D’Ivoire.

The workshop was centred on two themes namely: “Electoral Law in Cote d’Ivoire: moving forward and backward”, and “Electoral management bodies: a two-way perspective’’.

The event featured debates and presentations that clarified the issue to participants.

At the end of the workshop, four groups were formed and participants showed commitment to carry on the activity in order to support the current Independent Electoral Commission to fulfill its mandate and to disseminate the outcome of the meeting to the grass root.
